A Professional Way of Polishing Your Nails
It is important for your nails to be absolutely dry and deprived of any residue before being polished, then the polish will keep well. To be absolutely sure there is no residue on your nails, you should wipe your nails with a wad of cotton moistened professional nail polish remover. This can be purchased in a beauty supply store.
Application of primary clear coat: It improves stability of your nail polish, which means the nail polish will stay on longer without chipping. It also keeps your nails from turning yellow and, besides that, makes the uniform distribution of the nail polish easier.
Correct dosage: Before opening the bottle you should shake it very well several times. After dipping the brush into your polish, let excessive polish drain back into the bottle by pressing the brush to its edge. In this way you can ensure uniform distribution of polish and avoid making its layers excessively thick.
Correct approach: The brush should first approach the middle of your nail rather than its root to avoid staining the root and the nail skin with polish. After that you should slowly move your brush to the root.
Drawing a lengthwise line: Without lifting the brush, draw the line from the nail’s root to its tip.
Polishing the nail: Just after that you should fill the whole surface of the nail by drawing lengthwise lines at its sides as well. The more quickly you work, the more uniform the polish layer will be.
The test on being dry: Every layer of polish should have time to get dry before you apply the next layer. The polish can be considered dry if two nail surfaces do not stick together when slightly touching each other. There are some polishes that can get dry in a minute. But as a rule, every polish layer takes five minutes or even more to get dry. It should be absolutely dry to resist all scratches and bumps.
Correction of faults. The tool that is most convenient for removing traces of polish off the skin is the correction pencil. By using the tip of the correction pencil soaked with nail polish remover, you place the tip between your skin and where the polish line ends moving downward & away from your nail. Extra Tip: If you don’t have a correction pencil, use a toothpick in the same way. It really works!
