Manicure 101

Modern beauty salons offer their women clients various kinds of manicures. You should select the one that is most appropriate for your fingers.

THE “DRY” (preparation) manicure: is done without any СUTTING of the nails or cuticles. Therefore, you do not need nail nippers or scissors. The softening and the removal of the cuticle are done by means of agents containing fruit acids. It excludes the possibility of injuring your skin and, therefore, you also do not risk catching an infection. After the “dry” manicure, your nails preserve nail polish for a longer period of time as you have not had to soak them and, therefore, they have not absorbed any moisture. This kind of manicure won’t do too much for severely neglected nails.

THE “MOIST” manicure: the nails are cut by nail scissors or nails nippers after a bath of warm water. This manicure softens and moistens the skin well. It works well for any kind of nails. If the instruments are not disinfected well, you risk catching some infection thru cutting your skin. The safest way to get a manicure is to bring your own nail scissors, nippers, cuticle pushers, and even nail files. One more disadvantage is that nails that have been soaked before polishing will not keep polish well. That’s why we have to come back every week.

THE “HOT” manicure: instead of water, your hands are placed into special lotions warmed up to the temperature of 50 degrees celcius and containing peach or olive oil, vitamins E and A, lanoline, ceramides, and mineral admixtures. The “hot” manicure is good for treating thin fragile nails.

The “PUMICE” manicure: after a “moist” preparation of oils and lotions, the manicurist uses, instead of nail nippers or scissors, a natural stone file made with pumice on porcelain. Pumice removes dry and callous skin without injuring the skin. The polish is preserved as well as after the “dry” manicure. This kind of manicure is not good for those who do not care for their nails regularly.
