is thought that the easiest way to hide some facial shortcomings is by using

a foundation cream: simply apply it on the sides of the face, the nose or

the double chin area - a foundation cream which is several shades darker

than your usual one. However this method is good only for photos –

in reality, such a trick is thought to be too obvious or does not do the

job if the contrast is great enough big.

Let's try to apply another technique to narrow a wide face visually.

1. Enlarge the eyes.
   The wider the eyes seem, the narrower the whole face looks. On the upper eyelashes, apply a thick layer of mascara. Do not apply mascara on the lower eyelashes – it will “limit” the eyes, making them seem smaller. But false eyelashes will help. In general, anything that increases the length and volume of the eyelashes will do. For example, you can curl your eyelashes with the help of a special eyelash curler. You can also apply a very little face powder with a small brush, and then cover them with a thick layer of mascara – the color will not come off and the eyelashes will become unusually long and expressive!
   
   Well-defined eyebrows will also draw attention to the center of the face and forehead, removing the focus from round cheeks. But do not tweeze the eyebrows too much; they must make one big space with the eyes, but not some separate small features.
2. Emphasize lips.
   The lower lip should be increased appreciably and made as plump as possible. Lip-gloss, applied over the basic lipstick and a lip liner close to your natural lip color increases the lips optically. Dark lip liners diminish them visually. For additional effect, you can put some shine in the center of the lower lip.
3. Emphasize cheekbones.
   Well-emphasized cheekbones give the face some angularity, so the face doesn’t seem too round and flat, like a "pancake". It is also desirable to emphasize the upper eyelids, under the eyebrows. With the help of shadows and blush, emphasize the "sinking down" areas of cheekbones and eyelids -– cheek hollows and the lower eyelid part up to the fold. Emphasize the "prominent" parts with the help of light flickering powder. Do not go too far in shades: if you are a light-skinned blonde, it is best to choose brown blush tones. For those with darker skin, a shade of dark clay or chocolate will suit. Do not forget to apply the blush above with a friable powder to look more natural.
4. Decrease a wide nose.
   To distract attention from the nose, you should draw it either to eyes or lips, or to both at once. For this purpose, a bold, bright make-up for eyes and lips will do. You can also apply a light foundation cream or powder, lighter than your usual powder, along the bridge of the nose. Pay attention: do not darken what you want to hide, but clear the prominent parts; for example, in Gwen Stefani’s picture.
5. To shorten a long nose.
   It is very simple to make a long nose visually shorter. First, you should make it wider - it should become lighter than the whole face tone. Put a stroke of a darker tone under the tip of the nose, and make the tip itself of a peach or pinkish shade. For that, you can use a blush, also along the sides of the nose.
6. To correct the shape of the eyes.
   «Round eyes» are not such a big disadvantage and they are easy to improve. You should only put a strip of shadows from the internal angle to the external or make slightly rising "arrows" with the help of a pencil. The line should be extended a little toward the external angle of the eye. You should choose gentle pastel eye shadow tones.
   
   «Bulging eyes» – it is better to choose moistened eye shadow shades, avoiding shiny and dark colors which can make the eyelids visually heavy. First, you should cover the upper eyelid with a soft shade, spreading it in the direction of the external eye angle. It is necessary to emphasize the edge of the lower eyelid. Under the external third of eyebrows, apply either a light shade of eye shadow or a light foundation cream.
