How to Get-Along with Your Mother-In-Law

live separately.

Fighting is not good. Some women, when fighting

with their mother-in-law, forget about the husband’s feelings towards

this “shrew”. When two women so dear to him fight, he also

has it hard. The majority of men prefer to keep aside, even when it comes

to plates and dishes beating and pans flying past. He cannot take one

of their sides because it will mean that he betrays another woman. But

it does not imply that your husband is completely indifferent. On the

contrary, he is in constant strain -- and it may have awful consequences.

Do you think that you remain nice and sexual when scolding with your

mother-in-law all the time? No! Very soon your husband will start thinking

that it was a mistake to get married to you. And if you ask him to choose

between either you or her, he may prefer his mother. Of course there is

one great thing you give to him –- sex -- but he can have sex with some other woman. As for the mother, there is only one mother and it is

she who is responsible for the feeling of comfort and safeness in the

family; so the man does not want to loose her. He would rather leave you.

So think about that before you start scolding with your mother-in-law.

Statistics.

  • 57.9% of wives having ideal marriages state that

    their mother-in-law is ok.

  • 38.9% of wives having emotionally misbalanced marriages

find their mother-in-law a nice person.

The first conclusion: happiness in marriage helps to

get along with your mother-in-law.

The second conclusion: a woman that has brought up a good

husband has more chances to become a good mother-in-law.

  • 42.1% of aging wives treat their mother-in-law less

critically and assume that they were not right earlier, when they were

    young.

  • 78% of women who are friends with their mothers have

    no problems with the mothers-in-law.

A conclusion: you have more chances to become friends

with you mother-in-law if you get along with your mother.

A personal opinion. Helga, 54 years old.

“I have noticed that all my friends cannot get along with their

daughters-in-law. The reason is they try to change their daughters-in-law

to their liking. My friends are constantly teaching them, noticing all

their slips – and they are getting irritated, rude, or silent responses.

Then they complain of their daughters-in-law. When my son said that he

was going to get married, I decided not to follow my friends’ example.

So I said to his fiancée, ‘I have some experience, but I

do not want to impose it on you. If you can manage to do everything yourself,

I will only be glad for you. If you need my help or advice, I am ready

to give a helping hand. Just call.’ She called me the third day

and asked to help with cooking my son’s favorite pie. Two years

have passed and there was not a single scandal or quarrel between me and

my daughter-in-law, and we have become friends. And my son is very grateful

to me for treating his wife this way. So this is my advice: do not tell

your daughter-in-law off, but give her a helping hand.”
