Beverages – Information on Beverages good and bad.
which have come into our body, are digested mainly into fat.
Of course, the world’s outbreak of obesity that is being spoken
of a lot now hasn’t been caused only by the popularity of pops;
it’s evidently a complex problem. But is it reasonable to add more
problems to the body that has a hard time anyway?
Tooth decay.
The study of case histories of more than 3,200 Americans showed that
there is a direct connection between sparkling beverage consumption and
cavities (analogical researches confirmed the presence of this dependence
in the whole world from Sweden to Iraq). Not only sugar and sweeteners
are to be blamed for that, the fact that it’s the acid that decays
enamel has been heard by everyone due to the numerous advertisements.
Any kind of pop contains acid, starting with a relatively harmless carbonic
one (which breaks up into gas and water almost immediately) and finishing
with orthophosphoric acid which can even dissolve nails, not to mention
teeth.
Caffeine dependence.
Only those who adore “qualitative pops” like Cola and Pepsi
have to be aware of this danger, since our brands “kolokolchiks”
don’t contain caffeine. But there is information available that
people who got used to having this “doping” in their childhood
cannot do without it as adults, and there is a large probability for an
adult to suffer from vascular dystonia and other unpleasant physical states
sometimes right up to real caffeine dependence. The “withdrawal”
which, of course, is not as terrible as the one resulting from drug taking,
but which undoubtedly exists.
The saddest thing about it is that manufacturers do not mark the labels
of the beverages as containing caffeine, and it is not a fact that only
Cola and Pepsi and their numerous “clones” have caffeine in
them (among exported sodas there is no caffeine for sure in Sprite and
7-Up). Sparkling beverage manufacturers claim that the bitter caffeine
taste strengthens the taste of other soda ingredients and that’s
why they cannot deal without it in the production process. “But,”
they add, “there is also so little caffeine in our pops that it
cannot have any officinal influence.”
However, the research held in John Hopkins’ Institute testifies
to the opposite. According to the scientists, the popularity of sodas
containing caffeine can be explained only by the formed psychotropic and
physical caffeine dependence. Only eight percent of people could tell
if the soda contained caffeine or not just by trying it.
Bone fragility.
Being an element of orthophosphoric acid, phosphorus can diminish the
content of calcium in bones. It’s not that dangerous for adults
who don’t drink liters of sodas, but children and teenagers experience
some certain critical periods of bone growth and even insignificant metabolic
disorders, which can cause serious health problems in the future. According
to the statistics of the Harvard Medical Center, 14-year-old girls consuming
large quantities of cola face a five time greater feasibility of fractures
and different bone formation abnormalities.
Less “poisonous” sodas increase this possibility three times,
and only those fond of milk can feel themselves safe.
We shouldn’t forget that everything in our body is interconnected.
Metabolic disorders and obesity contribute to calcium losses, digestion
disorders and absorption, thus adding chances of getting ill. Of course,
soda is not the kind of enemy for a human being like alcohol, nicotine
and tobacco are, and even a feeble person won’t be affected significantly
by a glass of pop. But if we keep injuring our body by having sodas regularly,
then the revenge will be severe and untimely. Just when we need our body
to strain every nerve, it will remember everything you have been wearing
it out with all the years. The following symptoms will reveal themselves:
overweight, teeth decay and digestion disorder, which interfere with a
full assimilation. Isn’t is better to take care of yourself well
in advance, then to grab a bottle of mineral water when you know your
kidneys have almost fallen down?
Health-giving Juices.
The majority of humankind, whom we refer to as the healthy “norm”,
treat nutritionists with an unfriendly suspicion. There are certain reasons
for that. Nutritionists deprive us of such simple joys as beefsteaks with
that wonderful crust on top and tempting creamy pastries, and they do
it with the indifference of a misanthrope. It’s exactly them who
make us think that anything tasty is unhealthy and anything healthy is
disgusting. But as far as juices go, they are loved by everyone, even
nutritionists.
The juice that is freshly squeezed is an ideal well of vitamins, but
you cannot keep it longer than 10 days. All juices are low calorie due
to the glucose and fructose that are easily assimilated by the body. As
a nutritive and even curative substance, freshly squeezed juices are indispensable
for those who have problems with their stomach and bowels. A glass of
