In our everyday life, we can violate the standards of liquid consumption (consuming eight glasses of water per day) and still get the necessary amount from fruit, vegetables, soups and different juices and drinks. However, not all beverages are useful to the same extent, and this is exactly what we would like to tell you about in this article.



















Sparkling alcohol-free beverages are deprived of any nutritional value for our body. Containing large quantities of sugar, they have an unwholesome influence on our weight. Sparkling beverage consumption affects our teeth negatively because of the phosphoric acid (orthophosphoric acid) that most of them contain. For the reasons given above, it is highly recommended to limit the consumption of the kind of beverages in question to 0.34 ml per day (or even better not to have it at all).

 

Fruit beverages are distinguished by a wide assortment, exotic names and bright labels. Some of them can contain 100% natural juice. But on the whole, there are not any vitamins or microelements, only great amounts of sugar.

 

If the label says that the beverage has corn syrup or other sweeteners in it, then you’d better leave it on the shelf and get yourself another one that contains 100% fruit juice. But the best option is to buy fresh fruit and squeeze some fresh juice out of it.

 

Coffee. Moderation is the most pertinent word when talking about coffee. You can have no more than two cups a day if you want to avoid the unhealthy influence of caffeine.

 

Skim or 1% milk. It’s a great source of calcium and vitamin D. Since there is protein, carbohydrate and in our case, a little bit of fat in milk, the body assimilates it slower and the person can stay full longer. Recent researches have shown that low-calorie products contribute to weight loss.

 

Tea. Green tea contains flavonoids, polyphenols, and antioxidants and flushes out different harmful substances. Various herbal teas (chamomile, mint, etc.) promote relaxation and keep your body in tone, improving digestion. But it is better to restrain from regular black tea, because the tannins it contains are unhealthy for the organism.

 

100% fruit juice. Apart from the fact that all kinds of juices provide our body with vitamins and minerals, there are certain kinds of juice that have a more favorable affect on our health. For example, orange juice reduces the risk of cataract and cancer development. Currant juice prevents gum diseases. In tomato juice there is plenty of the antioxidant lycopene.

 

Water. Whatever has been said, water is an ideal source for satisfying your body with liquid, because it doesn’t contain any calories and is a natural source of fluoride. If you go out for sports, you won’t be able to provide your body with the necessary amount of liquid it needs unless you have water regularly.

 

Sparkling beverages are both dangerous and harmful.

 

They sell sparkling alcohol-free beverages everywhere. In summer their selling rates reach astronomic figures. While adults distribute their attention between sparkling beverages, mineral water and beer, children are ready to have liters of colored pops. But is it as harmless as it seems for both children and adults? Can beverages containing that many calories, sugar and food chemicals be harmless for our health (not to mention being health-giving)?

 

Obesity, tooth decay, bone fragility, and caffeine dependence are the main problems with over consumption of sparkling beverages. But there is also gastritis (carbonic acid destroys the stomach acidity, and gas spreads the stomach, interfering with contractions), breakdowns in liver functioning caused by aspartame sweeteners, and the list can go further and further.

 

What do the facts say?

 

Obesity.

 

One of the world’s most authoritative medical magazines, The Lancet, has recently published the results of its research, which indisputably prove that there is a direct connection between sparkling beverage consumption and children’s obesity. Naturally, the researchers have taken into consideration such risk factors as unhealthy diets, low physical activity and heredity, but it turned out that “harmless pop” is an independent and essential risk factor, which doubles the obesity probability. Unlike analogical research carried out by the sparkling water manufacturers, the research of The Lancet magazine lasted more than two years, showing all the dynamics of the figures and thus the research in question appears to be much more trustworthy.

 

The “easily accessible calories” those fizzy drinks abound in, “deceive” our brain. It’s as if they “race through unnoticed” and lessen the feeling of hunger for such an insignificant amount of time that they don’t affect the amount of food, which a person has after.
