Changes During the First Month of Pregnancy

after a short nap more quickly and they won’t seem so burdensome.

A good rest always gives chances to do any job with pleasure. If you do

not have a possibility to sleep, just lie down while reading a book and

relax.

Let the others help you

Even if your tummy is not noticeable yet and you think that you can

do tasks by yourself, you should not load yourself with everything. This

is especially true of housework connected with:

  • moving and lifting weight.
  • using chemicals such as cleaners.

Accept your mother, mother-in-law, or husband’s offer to bring

the apartment to the order.

The first pregnancy month is not the time to be a hero,

it is a time to be very cautious in everything to avoid complications.

Try to add time to your sleep schedule every night. Do not watch late

television programs, and try to go to bed earlier. Ask your husband to

prepare breakfast in the morning so that you can get up later in the day.

Talk with your husband about your future baby. Think of the coming baby

as a new member of your family.

Set up a regime

Try to set up a day’s regime. Choose time to have meals, to walk,

to rest, to communicate, and to sleep. Remember that your baby will live

inside you according to your regime (biorhythm), and his or her own biorhythm

will be formed on its basis. Try to spend more time outdoors. It is, of

course, more available to women with little children who have the possibility

to walk with them.

If you are at work, do not stay in the office during your lunch break.

Go out into the street or just walk home after work if possible.

Do not stay in the company of smokers. Breathing cigarette smoke is

dangerous for you and your baby.

The right diet

The beginning of pregnancy is the right time to have the right diet.

It should be well-balanced, rational, and useful.

Fast food contains undissolved fats that are hard on digestion, therefore

sandwiches are not for you.

Sweet soft drinks are also excluded because, after reaching the stomach,

they diminish the action of digestive juices. As a result, food taken

together with such drinks is not split and such nourishment leads to gaining

excess weight. A pregnant woman should control her weight at all times.

Your diet should contain:

  • fresh vegetables, verdure, and fruit (they contain fiber and are

    rich in vitamins and microelements);

  • juices (but avoid citrus juices as they may cause your baby to have

    an allergic reaction);

  • nuts and dried fruit (they are rich in calories and provide a lot

    of energy);

  • cereals (sprouting wheat);
  • cereal bread (contains complicated carbohydrates, stimulates digestion);

  • cereals (buckwheat and rice, especially dark rice);
  • foods rich in protein (meat, eggs, etc.).

Food should be consumed 5-6 times a day and the portions should be small.

You are at the beginning of a nine month journey. You are not accustomed

to this new state now, but it is alright. Very soon you will get used

to it and a lot of unpleasant phenomena will disappear forever. Then you

will be able to enjoy your “delicate position”!
